I had a very bad experience with Network Solutions and I have to agree that they are pretty unethical.

I had been brain storming on some new names for some up coming websites and decided to search on Network Solutions to see if they were available. There were plenty of Domain names on my list that weren’t taken, so I decided to sleep on it before I decided which ones to register.
Not more than eight hours after I had used Network Solutions to search for my possible website name, Network Solution had registered a few of the best ones. And of course, I could have registered them for an additional fee. I learned a very valuable lesson that day, if you find a Domain name that you like, you better register it right away.

I will never use Network Solutions as a Domain Registrant, EVER…

Thanks for this information. I’ll certainly stay away from Network Solutions.

All businesses that rip off others deserve to fail.

What they are doing is very very legal, but as you say, it is unethical. No matter how legal is, if any act is not ethical, I will never, never ever support it.

Domain registration is one of the most hot things on the net, since almost everyone needs a domain. Many registrars do unethical stuffs like that, but they can nebver be held for it since the world calls it “Business Tactics”.

A friend of mine forgot to renew his domain name (www.passgce.com) at GoDaddy.com. Just a day after expiration, GoDaddy bought the name and is now offering it for $50.00

First of all who in the right mind would register domain with Network Solutions when they charge way above everyone else???
I agree they illegally use private data collected when visitors looking for available domain names and should be punished for it

For all my domain needs I usually use 1and1 or name.com and never had similar problems - I could come back couple of days or even weeks later and all my selected domains were still available…

Internet is still very little regulated industry and these registrar companies are taking advantage of information collected from visitors or customers
